State
Financial
Secretary’s Office is the
State Financial Authority under Financial Procedure Act, 1957 and
responsible for financial management in Sarawak. The appointment
of
State Financial Secretary’s Office is subject to Article 11 of the
Sarawak State Constitution.
The State
Financial Secretary’s Office (SFSO) is operating with four main
functions,
which are Budget Division, Finance and Administration Division,
Procurement Division and Corporate Affairs Division. Each
division is
led by a Director or Principal Assistant Secretary and assisted by
Assistant Secretaries.
Arising
from a major restructuring which was completed in 1994, two new
divisions were established for Internal Audit and Ministry of Public
Utilities. Two more new units were also set up, i.e. one for
Registration of Contractors and another for Entrepreneur
Development. In line with the restructuring of the organization,
the number of staff
has increased to 127 after the full recruitment of staff was carried
out. The
restructuring of State Financial Secretary's Office is incubent as
there is an increase of work activities, responsibilities and the scope
of operation of State Financial Secretary's Office.
